Sustainability is not just a goal. It is a necessity and a shared obligation to help build a safer, more stable future for everyone.
World Environment Day 2025 is a powerful reminder that the health of our planet is inseparable from the wellbeing of communities, future generations, and the continuity of business.
As the world confronts environmental degradation, economic uncertainty, and social imbalance, the urgency to embed sustainability into decision-making has never been clearer.
An imperative
At Korozo Group, our mission is to reduce our environmental impact while developing flexible packaging solutions that support both people and the planet.
We recognise that our sector has a unique role in advancing circularity, and we are aligning our strategies with global sustainability goals and regulatory requirements, including the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).
Our approach goes beyond regulatory compliance. We aim to lead by example, through transparency, partnership, and action.
Central to this vision is the circular economy and building a world where reducing, reusing, and recycling are the norm.
KoroRCY, our in-house developed polyolefin-based flexible laminated film, reflects this philosophy. It enables brands to transition toward packaging that is designed for compatibility with recycling systems while preserving performance. The solution is commercially available and supports the development of pouches and packs that align with recyclability guidelines issued by organisations such as Cyclos-HTP, Interseroh, and the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR).
Integrating our expertise in film extrusion and manufacturing with a deep-rooted understanding of changing market dynamics and consumer behaviours, we are rising to the needs of planet, people, and packaging.
By making greater use of recycled content an important part of the development of flexible packaging solutions, we are meeting and exceeding the demand to make all packaging recyclable by 2030. This all part of the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), within which there is the need to include 35% Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) content.
We are also advancing our integration of recycled content. Today, KoroRCY can be produced with more than 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content, bringing us closer to PPWR’s target of 35% PCR content for non-contact sensitive plastic packaging by 2030. This demonstrates how regulatory alignment can drive product innovation and industry readiness.
But we know that material innovation alone is not enough. Addressing plastic pollution and climate change demands systemic transformation. This must include decarbonisation, design optimisation, and responsible sourcing. That’s why we are taking a science-based approach to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across our operations. We’re investing in energy efficiency, waste reduction, and renewable energy, and we are collaborating with industry platforms and certification bodies to ensure credible progress.
We are taking a science-based approach to reducing greenhouse gas emissions across our operations. We are actively working on emission-reduction projects that span energy efficiency, waste prevention, and renewable energy sourcing. These efforts are reinforced by close collaboration with industry partners, regulatory bodies, and sustainability certification organisations.
Combined, this is building the technical knowledge and operational capacity needed to drive long-term change and align with the global ambition to achieve Net Zero.
Collaboration as a catalyst for change
Our ability to move forward is rooted in collaboration. From our employees to our customers and partners, every stakeholder has played a part in making our sustainability progress possible. Our strategy is the outcome of shared purpose integrating supply chain improvements, product innovation, and responsible governance.
Our sustainability strategy is the product of collective effort and a shared vision for a greener, fairer, and more resilient future. From supply chain optimisation to product innovation and social responsibility, our teams work together with passion and purpose. We are proud of what we’ve accomplished, and we remain committed to continuous improvement.
By participating in international initiatives such as the UN Global Compact and CEFLEX, we are aligning our actions with recognised frameworks and measurable goals. These affiliations hold us accountable and help us benchmark our journey.
While much progress has been made, we know the road ahead is long. We remain committed to developing recyclable and resource-efficient packaging, lowering our operational footprint, and supporting the just transition to a circular economy.
As we mark World Environment Day 2025, our determination to drive positive change not just in our products, but in our practices is stronger than ever.
We thank our teams, partners, and customers for walking this path with us. Together, we can build a future where economic progress, environmental responsibility, and social equity advance in unison.
