Action and accountability

23/12/25

When I look back at 2025, I feel a mix of pride for what we have achieved and responsibility for the future.

I am proud of the real and measurable progress we have made against the ambitious targets we have set for ourselves.

This includes deepening our commitment to the Circular Economy, accelerating innovation, and strengthening our position in key markets such as Europe and North America.

With 2026 on the horizon, the regulatory landscape continues to evolve, and the market is shifting faster than ever. This intensifies our duty and responsibility to move beyond compliance and lead the transition to a circular and sustainable future.

Purposeful growth

This year we have made improvements where it counts, through scalable sustainable packaging solutions and stronger partnerships across the value chain. This has helped global brand owners realign their supply chains for circularity and increased our reputation as the go-to supplier for recyclable flexible packaging.

We have enhanced our manufacturing capability and capacity, improving efficiency across our business and enabling us to win new business.

At the same time, our R&D teams have accelerated development of mono-material flexible packaging solutions and developed recyclable laminated structures that preserve barrier performance while meeting recyclability criteria. This is legitimising our sustainability commitments and turning them into commercial reality.

Today, there are many products on supermarket shelves that are packed using our KoroRCY proprietary laminating film.

2026: a pivotal year for packaging

2026 will be a nexus point, where regulation and market expectation converge.

For example, the EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), which entered into force in 2025 has a key application date in August 2026.

In addition, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes are shifting the burden of responsibility onto producers. These schemes will continue to expand and become actionable in Europe, North America, and other regions where producers are being required to internalise end-of-life costs and demonstrate higher circularity, or face fines and higher charges.

Beyond policies, investment in recycling infrastructure promises to increase the realistic supply of food-grade recycled polymers. This will help make recycled-content mandates commercially achievable rather than theoretical. While the industry knows more still needs to be done in this area, it is a sign of steps in the right direction.

Digital Product Passports and the GS1 Sunrise 2027 initiative will spur on further innovation, by requiring and providing immediate access to all information relevant to a product and its entire lifecycle.

Korozo leads the way

Silos can no longer exist in the packaging value chain. That is why we are working closely with our partners to convert challenges into action and innovation.

Our strategy for 2026 is built on circularity at scale, action across the entire value chain, and commercial models that reward sustainability.

This is evidenced by our close partnership with the suppliers of recycled polymers. This ensures we are on track to achieve the targets stated in PPWR for PCR in non-contact and contact-sensitive packaging applications and demonstrates leadership through collaboration and action.

The result will be acceleration in the roll-out of mono-material films and barrier packaging solutions that meet both performance and recyclability requirements.

Action over words

We engage constructively with policymakers and industry bodies to ensure rules are practical and support genuine change.

2025 showed us what is possible when ambition is matched by action. Looking ahead to 2026, all the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle are falling into place. They are aligning and promising a truly transformative year for the flexible packaging industry, as regulations define clear expectations, infrastructure investment accelerates, and customer demand for circular solutions grows.

We must continue to be pragmatic and bold in our response by scaling the technologies and partnerships that make recyclable, low-carbon, and recycle-ready packaging the default choice for our customers.

Before we embark on this evolution together, I’d like to personally thank every colleague, partner, and customer who has worked with us this year. We look forward to furthering our relationship in 2026 as the next chapter unfolds.

This will require continued innovation, steady investment, and collaborative courage to drive the future of the flexible packaging industry to meet the needs of businesses, consumers, and the planet.
